FLOOD INSURANCE
Protection for when the
water rises.
Standard homeowners and business policies typically don’t cover flood damage. If you live or work near the river, a creek, or low ground, we’ll help you understand your options.
WHAT IT TYPICALLY COVERS
The basics, explained.
Your Building
The structure itself, including foundation, walls, and major systems.
Your Belongings
Furniture, clothing, and other contents, often available as separate coverage.
Businesses
Flood coverage is available for commercial buildings and contents.
Renters
Renters can often cover their belongings even if they don’t own the building.
Coverage descriptions are general. Actual coverage depends on your policy and carrier.

Floods happen outside “high-risk” zones.
Many flood losses occur in areas that aren’t mapped as high-risk.
There’s usually a waiting period.
Most flood policies don’t take effect right away, often around 30 days, so you can’t wait until the river is rising.
Water backup is different.
Sewer and sump pump backup is usually covered separately by a homeowners endorsement, not by flood insurance. We’ll help you sort out the difference.
